Ulta Mini Haul

My recent Ulta trip was more out of necessity than anything else.  I had earned my 3 point coupon from Ulta which was disappointing considering I was hoping to have 6 points so I could get a new fragrance.  I guess I underestimated my spending in first quarter.  The fact is I moved from Florida to Tennessee and since makeup and cosmetics were quite low on my priority list and moving trucks and new paint were quite high, I fell short of the required $300 spending minimum to earn my 6 points.  So when I received my coupon in the mail, I looked through my excessive makeup collection to see if I "needed" anything and realized how badly and desperately I was in need of two major essentials.  I was mixing two old foundations (to create a color that sorta/kinda matched my skin tone) and using a way-to-dark eyebrow pencil from when I was a dark brunette (OMG, where were my friends on that one?).  I realized I needed, no...REQUIRED, foundation and a good brow pencil.  So off to Ulta I drove; the Hamilton Place location in Chattanooga, TN being my store of choice.  I combed the aisles in search of the perfect foundation, though in my mind I knew I was looking at either Benefit or (pricey) Napoleon Perdis.  Ultimately, here's what I bought:

Benefit: Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Foundation in "I'm so money Honey" - $34

What I liked when I tested this on my hand was the smooth texture that appeared to be buildable and blended perfectly with my skin tone.  I've only been using it for a few days so I'll review this next month, but so far I like the coverage and the application.  Here's the claim:

Goodbye imperfections. Hello Flawless! Benefit's brightening liquid foundation builds from light to medium coverage for a natural complexion you can believe in.

Benefit: Instant Brow in Light - $20

Here I deviated from the norm; the norm being my MAC Lingering Brow pencil and already I'm regretting being a deviant.  I've used this pencil twice and it's way too soft and the color is too light for me.  I have to use MAC Cork with a brow brush over it just to make it work.  I think that even if I had purchased the darker shade I'd feel the same way because it's just so soft I don't have the control I like to create "hairs" where my brows just don't grow.  I expect that once I use this up, I'll be returning to my old favorite.

FINALLY, this is what I used my points for:

Macadamia Natural Oil Reviving Curl Cream - $10 (But free with my Ulta Club points)

Here's the claim:

Macadamia Natural Oil Reviving Curl Cream is a nourishing cream that provides hold, softness and amazing form to curls. Ideal for curly or wavy textures. Helps lock in moisture while sealing out humidity preventing frizz and droopy curls.

I really love how this smells!  It's sweet and soft, not heavy and perfume-y like some creams.  I tried it today and can tell that I still need some sort of mouse to tame my frizzy mop, but it did make my hair feel softer and it looked shinier.  Again, review to come sometime next month but so far, I'm impressed.
