Spring Forward
When I created this outfit on polyvore, it all began with the Butter London Nail polish in Cheeky Chops. The yellow is the perfect buttery yellow color for spring the the mix of primary colors looks beautiful. The second piece in this collection that I'm in love with is the Frye boots. They are super cute and can be worn so many ways. The accessories are fun and would be perfect from Spring and into Summer. Overall, this is a great shopping day or lunch with the girls look.

Sigma/Butter London Mini Haul
I had a moment of fear when I realized that a shade of Butter London nail polish that I'd been eyeing was not readily available in Ulta AND was even down to the last quantities on Amazon. So I did what any good beautyholic would do...I ordered the last bottle from Amazon AND a couple other things I "needed".
FIRST and most important is my new Butter London nail polish in Cheeky Chops. I think I bought this more because of the name, but also because I paired it with an outfit I created on polyvore (You'll see that later this week). Each Butter nail polish costs around $14 (sometimes more if it's hard to find), and as you'll soon come to learn, it's one of my FAVORITE brands. Amazon typically has the best prices on these polishes but sometimes Ulta runs specials or you can buy them direct from the Butter London website.

L05 - Lip |
The F84 Angled Synthetic Kabuki ($16.00) is great for the application of liquid foundation. I already owned the flat top kabuki but I liked how this one contoured to my face and I think it applies the foundation better.
The L05 Lip brush ($9.00) is a compact brush with a cover so you can carry it in your purse and it's small enough to fit in a small makeup bag. This feature was especially important because my makeup bag is tiny and I prefer to use a brush to apply my lipstick.
Sigma brushes are available at Sigma Beauty and they offer a wide variety of individual brushes and collections.

Learn How to Pronounce Tricky Beauty Brand Names
FINALLY, a guide to help pronounce the names of those tricky, unusual makeup brands correctly. Stop saying Stilla; it's Stee-lah. I found this article on The Makup Divas Beauty Blog. ENJOY!
Outdoor Hike
My family and I decided to take a day trip and head up into the North Carolina mountains. We wanted the kids to see some snow so we packed up and headed from our home in Tennessee toward the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest.

On the way up into the mountains we found cute little overlooks and campgrounds that had patches of snow that were anywhere from an inch to three inches thick. As we were walking one of the trails, I was inspired by the nature around me and when I got home I came up with the outfit above. I absolutely adore the sweater and the coat looks so warm and cozy. The khaki nails are a perfect match and the socks with the boots are modern and comfy. The neutral tones of the pieces make them perfect for a picnic at the park or an outdoor party when the snow has just melted.

Dior Garden Party Collection for Spring 2012
For Spring 2012, Dior created a collection of ethereal pastels that capture the beauty of a flowering garden, and the fun and festivity of a party. Since it arrived in stores in January (I'm a little late) I had already fallen for the beautiful pastel shades. Inspired by Christian Dior's garden in Granville, Normandy this collection embodies the essence of Spring in a most decadent way.

Milly Garden 001 (Currently exclusive to Nordstrom) |
Dior Garden Party 5-Couleurs Garden Edition - $59.00
Garden Roses 841 |
Garden Pastels 441 |
As beautiful as these shades are, I swatched them in the store and I think that for me, a woman in my late thirties, they would be difficult to wear but they would be adorable on someone in their teens to early thirties. They are quite shimmery and delicate and for me, they're just too pastel for my taste.
Rouge Dior Haute Couleur, Voluptuous Care - $32.00
Tulip Pink 448 and Corolle Pink 363 |
Diorskin Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Booster Blush - $44.00
Petal 001 |
Dior Addict Ultra Gloss - $30.00
Party Lilac #396 and Pretty Rose #452 |
3-Couleurs Palettes - $48.00
Smoky Roses and Smoky Garden |

ULTA NAIL HAUL
I used to go and get my nails done professionally. I had the fake acrylic nails that were the standard square tip and I preferred the pink and white style since that was the most low maintenance. Then I began to paint them and since I like to change my color like I change my unmentionables, I noticed that after about a week, my acrylics were looking sad and misshapen. So a couple months ago, I soaked off my fake nails and began trying to grow my own to no avail. My nails are so brittle and thin, they peel like an onion. I decided to try a new regimen when painting my nails. I went to Ulta because they sell my favorite brand of nail polish: Butter London. Here's what I picked up to begin my nail overhaul:
Essie Protein Base Coat - $8.00

Helps strengthen and protect the nail while leaving a smooth finish. Wheat Protein enriches healthy nails for strength and elasticity. Protein Base Coat extends the duration of a manicure.I've been using the base coat for about a week and so far, I've noticed that my manicure is lasting longer and I haven't broken a nail yet. Obviously for an accurate review, I need to use it for at least 30 days, but this is my first impression. The price is good and it seems to work well.
Butter London Nail Polishes - $14.00 ea.
